Mother's Day

On the eve of Mother's Day (May 13, 2012), this song and video is dedicated to all the beautiful mothers out there for the unconditional love you render to your little ones, be it in the form of a guru, human, animal or being the mother of this whole existence. A token of gratitude to Mother Earth for all that she does for her children unconditionally and bears everything that she gets back in return from her ignorant children - a true mark of unconditional love.
Thank you...

Inspirations from AR Rahman

AR Rahman has been my top-most inspiration in life immediately after the night I heard the tamil Roja songs long before it was released. I listened to it the whole night at my friend's house. As I was awed by his next "Thiruda Thiruda" I couldn't help but stay glued to him and admire his life. There are lot I learnt from him, not just in music, but from his principles and attitudes in life. I realized the secret about his success in life - HE IS ALWAYS CONNECTED TO THE SOURCE! Here are some more inspirations I collected and learnt about him.
"Religion sounds vulgar these days, I am more of a spiritual person. And I believe in being consistent with my spirituality. As one grows in life, one realizes the magnitude of spirituality. It is the most beautiful passion. It raises you above all the negativities. For me and my music, spirituality is the most important element and I don't think I can create the kind of music I do, if I don't practice spirituality."
  • A. R. Rahman Grammy Rahman has no nick names. All the family members including sisters and his mom call him “Rahman” with full fleged love and affection.
  • Due to the family situation Rahman discontinued his studies in Padma Sheshadree Higher Secondary School during his 9th.
  • Rahman doesnt celebrate his birthday in a grandeur way. Early morning prayers, orphanage visits are the activities he do on that day peacefully. He offers namaaz five times a day.
  • Rahman eats just for his hunger. Takes on any food he gets in his house. His stomach gets filled for even “Rasam Sadaam”.
  • Rahman has 0% affinity towards gold jewellery. Slim Platinum ring is what he wears at times. He doesnt wear a watch in his hand.
  • When theres a holiday for his children Rahman goes abroad. But with full musical works with him.
  • Rahman gives respect to even sweeper of his studio and that is why he is loved by all so much.
  • ARR loves his mother very much. even now, his financial matters are seen by her. He does not maintain a wallet. but he never goes out without his keyboard!
  • With all the above in place, being humble, simple and honest is all that one needs to be to ensure a great life. With so much of stardom and attention after the Golden Globe and OSCARS, Rahman could have got carried away with the success, however he always chose work over publicity.
  • Rahman goes to Hyderabad and Nagoor Dargas with his family atleast once in 6 months.
  • Rahman shows exceptional love towards his sisters Raihanna, Fatima and Israt.
  • He has lot of interests towards social service. He loves doing that without any kind of fame.
  • Rahman loves “Games”next to music. His gaming companions are Kathija, Rahima and Ameen. (children).
  • Every time rahman comes out of his house he prays to his father “Shekar” and then leaves. This is a sign of respect he shows to his father and mother. He treats them as GOD.
  • Maniratnam is the only guy who can meet Rahman at any time of his choice. Rahman shows more affection to Mani who introduced him to film music than anyone.
  • He talks very less. But to the close friends circle Rahman just loves to talk and laugh. “Music is the tool through which he keeps on speaking.”
  • Rahman doesnt have a big friends circle. He was very sad when his close friend and singer Shahul Hameed passed away.
  • Rahman likes all the kinds of music. He thinks that the music loved by a person too is good music. He congratulates the Music Directors for their song which he liked the most when he gets a chance of seeing them whole heartedly.
  • Rahman doesnt go to any kind of recreation places like theatres and parties. When he gets free time he just spends it with his family.
  • It would have been so easy for a musician like Rahman to go and settle in Mumbai and work for acclaimed filmmakers post " Roja and Bombay ". But the man preferred not leaving his home, his roots to a place where instant fame, recognition and money was assured. Of the many ignored facts, Rahman's major success lies in working from his home. Home is where your heart, mind, body and soul is.
  • There was a time when Rahman was being humiliated by some critics, directors and producers over the kind of music he had scored, and all this when he was at the peak of his career. He could do nothing about it, and preferred to remain calm and unmoved. And when ever his work was released, it got an outstanding response and was embraced by the masses. This overwhelming response and success was a slap on the face of those critics, producers and directors.
  • Not many may have noticed that Rahman has introduced maybe a hundred new young singers to the Tamil and Hindi screens – his faith in the youth of India is evident in his statement that he would like youngsters to take a different view of music after his winning the OSCARS. Rahman has done what no other music director has done for the cause of music-starting a music school, the KM MUSIC CONSERVATORY. His objective for starting this school is to make Indian musicians have a global orchestra of their own. This is such an innovative idea and Rahman is spending a lot of time, money and energy towards realizing this noble musical mission!
  • Rahman is the UN ambassador for the campaign fighting against poverty and he has associated himself with many social causes.
  • On the night he returned to India after receiving the OSCARS, he requested that his fans ought not to disturb his neighbors in the dead of night clearly points to a long forgotten quality in India—consideration for others.
  • Nothing’s changed about the man. If anything, A. R. Rahman is still the shy and humble person he was before Slumdog Millionaire happened. The only difference is that with two Oscars and a BAFTA and Golden Globe each, the security cover around him has thickened.

Some of his words -

  • "Humble origins need not prevent us from aspiring for and achieving great success ".
  • "Criticism is fine – at the end of the day, my music speaks for itself."
  • "I try to do my best but, finally, everything lies in God’s hands."
  • "Rather than making money I believe in making people happy. All other things are secondary. Money isn’t important, creative satisfaction is.
  • "I had a choice between love and hate, and I chose love. That’s why I am here today.”
  • "Be a good son to your parents; Be a good husband to your wife and be a good father/mother to your children, and that would make you a good friend to me."
  • "I like music that is able to stir my soul. My music is a spiritual exercise”
  • "Religion sounds vulgar these days, I am more of a spiritual person.

Achieve more in 2012!

This is a revive of an earlier article

Welcome 2012 as we leave behind 2011. When we want to turn and look back and what the year 2011 had to offer, we notice that there was not much. Observe carefully, and it is just another year that we let pass by. Achievements? None for some and some for some... There were achievements to count in the form of promotions, new businesses, new jobs, new relationships, new friends, new purchases, new establishments, new ventures, etc etc.. all that were achievements of 2011. But physically one witnessed so many achievements but when one ponders to what actually inner achievement did one receive, the entire question about achievement is re-thought about. Did all these new achievements make you grow as a person? Did it give you more happiness? Did it improve your well-being? Do you feel more contended? Ah! Now, thats a question. One could even think of re-defining the word achievement.
2011 has seen many traumatic events in the form of natural disasters, terror attacks, economic meltdown and a lot of insecurity. With all these fresh in the minds, all move ahead to welcome 2012 with an optimistic view hoping things would be better. Of course, the problem lies not in the view here but in the definition of what one has achieved. Without clearing knowing ones achievement or growth it would be a blunder to look forward to things that would only pile up a few more so called achievements giving one the false notion that more has been achieved.

Achievement, I would define here, is a sense of feeling that one adds up to one's life that brings about a sense of contentment, happiness, security and well being. If one hasn't achieved this state then what use is that extra thing that you have added on to your physical life? If you feel that with such achievement, there is even a fraction of added burden of insecurity, gloom, jealousy, selfishness, greed, inferiority, worry, or fear to your achievements of last year, think again if they can be really called achievements. But if one has not achieved anything in 2011 that one can actually boast off in open but has been able to add even a fraction of the sense of security, peace, happiness and contentment then one has made great achievements!

Now, it is never that any achievements like new friends, relationships, wealth, job, ventures, etc are bad. Not so! In fact, all this is what makes life. But at the end of it all, one has to measure as to what one's sense of being is. What one has to compare is not one's current assets from the past year but compare one's individuality and well being from that of the previous year. This is because only your well being will give you the sense of real achievement. If with more wealth one has more guilt, fear and insecurities then one has not achieved more wealth but in fact achieved more worries. If with a new relationship one has achieved more restlessness, more insecurity, more hurts, more anger, more sleepless nights, then what has in reality been achieved is more turmoil. If with a new venture one has more fears, more tensions, more irritation then one has actually ventured into more troubles. BUT, if with any of the so-called achievement if one has achieved more stability, more strength, more security, more peace, more happiness, more laughter, more ease, more restfulness, more flexibility, more grace, more love, then that's achievement!

However, there is nothing bad if looking at the above you feel you haven't achieved anything. Once you understand this defination of achievement, now you can look forward in the right way to welcome 2012. This understanding will actually make you look at what you will gain with any new moves you make in 2012. With any move, you now analyze what would be a end result. How will you be growing as your true self? What will be the achievements your inner self will be making? When these are analyzed with any new moves in life, there creates a lot of room for achievements on all the planes - physical, mental and emotional levels. More of all, you will have clarity in what to seek for a growth that will make you feel contended and peaceful at the end of the day. Basically, that is what one would want to feel at the end of one's journey. Just like one looks back at the end of every year and guage one's achievements, at the end of one's life journey one should be able to look back and say "I have achieved everything in my life!"
Have a wonderful 2012! Stay blessed!

10 Reasons to throw Your Microwave Oven

Microwave test - an eye opener

(shared from an email)

Below is a Science fair project presented by a girl in a secondary school in Sussex. In it she took filtered water and divided it into two parts. The first part she heated to boiling in a pan on the stove, and the second part she heated to boiling in a microwave. Then after cooling she used the water to water two identical plants to see if there would be any difference in the growth between the normal boiled water and the water boiled in a microwave. She was thinking that the structure or energy of the water may be compromised by microwave.

As it turned out, even she was amazed at the difference, after the experiment which was repeated by her class mates a number of times and had the same result.

It has been known for some years that the problem with microwaved anything is not the radiation people used to worry about, it's how it corrupts the DNA in the food so the body can not recognize it.

Microwaves don't work different ways on different substances. Whatever you put into the microwave suffers the same destructive process. Microwaves agitate the molecules to move faster and faster. This movement causes friction which denatures the original make-up of the substance. It results in destroyed vitamins, minerals, proteins and generates the new stuff called radiolytic compounds, things that are not found in nature.

So the body wraps it in fat cells to protect itself from the dead food or it eliminates it fast. Think of all the Mothers heating up milk in these 'Safe' appliances. What about the nurse in Canada that warmed up blood for a transfusion patient and accidentally killed him when the blood went in dead. But the makers say it's safe. But proof is in the pictures of living plants dying!!!

Ten Reasons to throw off  your Microwave Oven
From the conclusions of the Swiss, Russian and German scientific clinical studies, we can no longer ignore the microwave oven sitting in our kitchens. Based on this research, one can conclude this article with the following:

  1. Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term - permanent - brain damage by 'shorting out' electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or de-magnetizing the brain tissue].
  2. The human body cannot metabolize [break down] the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.
  3. Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.
  4. The effects of microwaved food by-products are residual [long term, permanent] within the human body.
  5. Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food is reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the human body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.
  6. The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.
  7. Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increased rate of colon cancer in UK and America.
  8. The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.
  9. Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.
  10. Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence.
